Isaiah 53:3-5 foretells the suffering Servant who 'took up our pain and bore our suffering,' pierced for our transgressions so that 'by his wounds we are healed.' Christians read it as the deepest promise of healing—spiritual and physical—rooted in what Jesus accomplished on the cross. It's the passage to pray when you or someone you love needs healing and restoration.
3He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. Like one from whom men hide their faces, He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.
4Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows; yet we considered Him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted.
5But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
