'If We Confess Our Sins' (1 John 1:8-10)

1 John 1:8-10 promises that 'if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.' Rather than hiding or denying sin, we bring it into the light, and God — faithful and just — both forgives and cleanses. It is assurance for anyone weighed down by guilt that honest confession is met with full pardon, not rejection.
8If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
