When I Am Afraid, I Will Trust in You (Psalm 56:3-4)

Psalms 56:3-4 · Berean Standard Bible

Psalm 56:3-4 gives fearful people simple words to pray: 'When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?' David wrote this while in real danger, so it does not pretend fear away, it moves fear toward trust. Faith and fear can be present in the same moment, and this verse chooses trust anyway.

3When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.

4In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

Read the wider context: Psalms 56.
