A New Command: Love One Another (John 13:34-35)

On the night before his crucifixion, Jesus gave his disciples a new command: "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." He said this sacrificial love would be the mark that identifies his followers to the whole world. John 13:34-35 sets the standard for Christian love — measured not by our feelings but by how Christ himself loved.
34A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another.
35By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”
