Return to the Lord With All Your Heart (Joel 2:12-13)

Joel 2:12-13 is God's invitation to come back: 'Return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping... Rend your hearts and not your garments.' The reason to return is his character — he is 'gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love.' For anyone who has wandered, it promises that God is far readier to forgive than we dare expect.
12“Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “return to Me with all your heart, with fasting, weeping, and mourning.”
13So rend your hearts and not your garments, and return to the LORD your God. For He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion. And He relents from sending disaster.
