Doxa Community Guidelines
Effective Date: 6 February 2026
Our Heart for Community
Doxa is a community built on encouragement. These guidelines exist to keep this space safe, kind, and Christ-honouring for everyone.
1. Our Community Values
Everything we do at Doxa flows from a few core values. These aren't just words on a page — they shape how we build, moderate, and grow this community together.
- Encouragement over criticism — We're here to build one another up, not tear each other down
- Respect for all believers — Regardless of denomination, tradition, or background
- Grace — We believe in second chances. None of us are perfect, and that's okay
- Truth spoken in love — Honest, kind, and always with the other person's good in mind
- Humility — None of us have it all figured out. We're all learning and growing together
2. What We Welcome
This is what Doxa is all about. We love seeing:
- Testimonies of God's faithfulness — big and small, past and present
- Prayers and encouragement for one another
- Scripture sharing and discussion
- Honest questions and struggles — you don't have to have it all together here
- Celebrating what God is doing in your life and in the lives of others
Doxa is a place where you can be real about your faith journey. We'd rather hear an honest struggle than a polished performance any day.
3. What We Don't Allow
To keep Doxa a safe space for everyone, the following are not permitted:
- Hate speech, discrimination, or dehumanising language — Every person is made in God's image
- Harassment, bullying, or personal attacks — Disagree respectfully, or step away
- Spam, self-promotion, or commercial solicitation — This isn't a marketplace
- Sexually explicit or graphically violent content
- False claims of spiritual authority over others — No one has the right to control another person's faith
- Manipulation, coercion, or spiritual abuse — We take this extremely seriously
- Content that promotes self-harm or harm to others
- Deliberately false or misleading claims presented as testimony
- Sharing others' private information without consent
4. How Content Moderation Works
We want to be transparent about how we keep Doxa safe:
- AI-assisted tools: We use AI to help flag potentially harmful content for faster response
- Human review: Human reviewers make all final moderation decisions — an algorithm doesn't get the last word
- Transparency: We aim to be open about our moderation practices and decisions
- Context matters: We consider intent and impact when reviewing content. A prayer request about a difficult situation is very different from content designed to harm
5. Reporting
If you see something that doesn't belong, please let us know. We'd rather hear about it and find there's no issue than miss something that matters.
How to Report
- In-app: Use the report button on any content or profile
- Email: support@doxa.app
- What happens: We review all reports within 48 hours (usually much faster)
- Confidentiality: Reports are handled confidentially — the person you report will not know who flagged their content
6. Consequences
We take a progressive approach to enforcement, because we genuinely believe in restoration:
- Warning — For first-time or minor violations. We'll reach out, explain what happened, and help you understand the guidelines.
- Content removal — The offending content is taken down. You'll be notified about what was removed and why.
- Temporary suspension — Repeated violations result in a time-out from the community. Think of it as a pause, not a punishment.
- Permanent ban — Severe or repeated violations after warnings may result in permanent removal from Doxa.
The severity and speed of action depends on the nature of the violation. Threats of violence, illegal content, or content that puts someone in immediate danger may result in immediate permanent removal without prior warning.
7. Appeals
We're human, and we can get things wrong. If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you have the right to appeal.
- How: Contact support@doxa.app within 14 days of the action
- Include: Your account email and the specific action you're appealing
- Fair review: A different reviewer will assess your appeal — not the person who made the original decision
- Response time: We'll respond within 7 business days
8. Our Grace-Centred Approach
We believe in restoration. If you've made a mistake, we want to help you stay in the community. Our goal is never punishment — it's to maintain a space where everyone can encounter God's encouragement safely.
If you've been suspended, reach out. We genuinely want to work with you. Everyone deserves grace, and that includes you.
