Your Rights Under Data Protection Law

Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and similar laws worldwide, you have the right to request erasure of your personal data. This page explains how to exercise that right. We aim to make this process as straightforward as possible.

Before You Delete — Please Read Carefully

⚠️ Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Once deleted, the following data will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered:

  • Your profile and account information
  • All prophecies, testimonies, and encouragements you've created
  • All audio recordings
  • Voice chat session history and summaries
  • Group memberships and any groups you own (groups may be transferred or deleted)
  • All comments and interactions
  • Subscription information (though payment records may be retained by Stripe for their legal requirements)

Export First: If you want to keep a copy of your data, please contact us at privacy@doxa.app to request a data export before deleting your account. Under GDPR, you have the right to receive your data in a portable format.

Option 1: Delete Account In-App (Recommended)

Steps:

  1. Open the Doxa app
  2. Go to Settings (tap the gear icon)
  3. Scroll to the bottom
  4. Tap "Delete Account"
  5. Confirm by typing "DELETE"
  6. Tap "Permanently Delete Account"

Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted immediately.

Option 2: Request Deletion via Email

If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion by email:

We will verify your identity and process your request within 30 days as required by GDPR/UK GDPR.

What Gets Deleted

  • Account: Your email, profile, and authentication data
  • Records: All prophecies, testimonies, and encouragements
  • Audio: All audio recordings and files
  • Groups: Your memberships; groups you own will be transferred or deleted
  • Comments: All comments and interactions
  • Notifications: All notification history

Alternative: Delete Data Only

If you just want to delete your records but keep your account active, visit our Delete Data page instead.

Data Retention After Deletion

After account deletion, we may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes:

  • Encrypted backups: Purged within 90 days of deletion
  • Payment records: Retained by Stripe per their policies and for tax/accounting compliance
  • Legal records: If required for ongoing legal proceedings or regulatory compliance
  • Aggregate statistics: Anonymised, non-personal data may be retained

We retain no personally identifiable information beyond what is legally required.

What Deletion Does NOT Affect

  • Content you shared publicly (e.g., testimonies submitted to The Grace Record may remain published)
  • Content others have saved or copied from you before deletion
  • Data held by third parties (Apple, Google, Stripe) per their own policies
  • Any legal claims or rights that arose before deletion
