Your Data Rights

Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR, POPIA, CCPA, and similar laws, you have the right to request erasure of your personal data. This page explains how to delete your content while keeping your account active. For complete account deletion, see our Delete Account page.

How to Delete Your Data

You can delete your records (prophecies, testimonies, encouragements) and your Doxa Engage sessions at any time. Your account stays active.

Export First: If you want to keep a copy of your data before deletion, contact us at privacy@doxa.app to request a data export. This is your right under data protection law.

Option 1: Delete Items One at a Time in the App

To delete a record:

  1. Open the Doxa app
  2. Open the record you want to delete
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap the trash icon
  4. Tap "Delete Permanently"

To delete a Doxa Engage session:

  1. In Doxa Engage, tap the session history button
  2. In Your Sessions, swipe the session to the left
  3. The session is deleted at once

If you shared a record with other people, they can still open it after you delete it. The web app at doxa.app has no delete button for records. Use the mobile app, or email us.

To delete everything at once, email us (Option 2). Your account stays active.

Option 2: Delete Everything by Email

Email us from the address on your account. We delete all the data in the list below and keep your account:

We do it within 30 days, as UK GDPR and GDPR require. Usually it is much sooner.

What Gets Deleted

Data deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

When you email us (Option 2), we delete:

  • Records: All the prophecies, testimonies and encouragements you created, with their tags, notes and the themes found in them. This includes records you shared with other people.
  • Audio files: Your voice recordings, the audio you sent for transcription, and your Today declarations. We delete the files from our storage, not only from the app.
  • Comments, likes and shares: The ones you made on any record
  • Doxa Engage sessions: Your session history, messages, summaries and shared transcripts, and the notes Doxa Engage saved from your sessions
  • Personal weighing: Words you weighed on your own, outside a group
  • Today entries: Your Today practice entries
  • Bookmarks and highlights: Your Bible highlights and bookmarks, and the Grace Record stories you saved
  • Safety check copies: The copies of your text that our content checks kept

When we run the deletion, the data leaves our live database and file storage at once. Backup copies expire within 30 days after that.

What Is Retained

  • Account: Your account stays active, with your email, profile, profile picture, preferences and notification settings
  • Group memberships: You stay a member of your groups
  • Weighing notes: Your weighing notes on group encouragements stay with the group
  • Shared content: Content other people shared with you (their data, not yours)
  • Subscription: Your subscription stays active
  • Grace Record submissions: Stories you submitted for publication stay. Ask us if you want them removed.
  • Other settings and history: Your Bible reading progress, blocked users, notification history and usage statistics

What Deletion Does NOT Affect

  • Content others have copied or saved before your deletion
  • Publicly shared content (e.g., Grace Record submissions)
  • Data held by third-party services per their own policies
  • Anonymised aggregate statistics
