Successful candy businessman Bill Bright heard God's calling in 1945 Los Angeles, left his thriving business to found Campus Crusade for Christ and create the Four Spiritual Laws, impacting billions worldwide.

β€œWith God, life is an endless hope. Without God, life is a hopeless end.”

Bill Bright's journey from a successful candy businessman to a dedicated servant of Jesus Christ is a remarkable testament to the power of divine calling. Born on October 19, 1921, in Coweta, Oklahoma, Bill was initially focused on academics and financial success. He graduated with honors from Northeastern State University in 1944 and moved to Los Angeles, where he started Bright's California Confections, a thriving candy business. Despite his upbringing in a religious household, Bill did not have a personal relationship with Jesus during this time.

The turning point came in the spring of 1945 when Bill heard Henrietta Mears speak about the Apostle Paul's conversion at the First Presbyterian Church in Hollywood. This experience led to a profound spiritual awakening and a commitment to Jesus Christ. Bill later expressed this transformation, saying, "With God, life is an endless hope. Without God, life is a hopeless end."

In 1951, responding to what he felt was a direct calling from God, Bill founded Campus Crusade for Christ (now known as Cru) at the University of California, Los Angeles. He believed deeply in the Great Commission, stating, "The Great Commission is not an option; it's our mandate." To aid in this mission, he authored "The Four Spiritual Laws" in 1952, a simple yet powerful tool for explaining the Gospel that has been shared with billions around the world.

Bill's dedication to evangelism and discipleship was unwavering. He often remarked, "There is no higher calling or greater privilege known to man than being involved in helping fulfill the Great Commission." His life's work grew into a vast international ministry, impacting countless lives and spreading the message of Jesus globally.

Bill Bright passed away on July 19, 2003, in Orlando, Florida, but his legacy lives on through Campus Crusade for Christ and the Four Spiritual Laws. His story continues to inspire many to pursue their faith with passion and purpose, giving glory to Jesus for the transformation in their lives.
