Born on May 9, 1907, in Concordia, Missouri, Kathryn Kuhlman grew up in a devout Christian family. Despite her upbringing, she wrestled with doubts about her faith and calling during her youth. From Tent Meetings to Carnegie Hall
In 1923, Kathryn embarked on her ministry journey, initially traveling with her older sister and brother-in-law across the Midwest. Preaching in small churches and tent meetings, she gradually developed her voice as an evangelist. However, her ministry truly took off in 1946 when she moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There, she established a regular healing ministry, holding services at Carnegie Hall and later at the First Presbyterian Church. Her gatherings drew thousands, and many attendees reported miraculous healings.
The Holy Spirit at Work
Kathryn often emphasized that these miracles were the work of the Holy Spirit, not her own doing. As she famously said, 'I believe in miracles because I believe in God.' This belief was the cornerstone of her ministry, which was characterized by a deep sense of joy and faith in God's power to heal and transform lives. Despite facing personal crises, including a painful divorce in 1948, Kathryn's faith only deepened, and she continued to rely on God through her trials.
In her book, 'I Believe in Miracles,' Kuhlman reflected, 'I never cease to be amazed at the power of God to transform lives. The greatest miracle of all is when someone gives their life to Jesus Christ.' Her testimony is a powerful reminder of the impact that unwavering faith and reliance on God can have. Jesus was the source of the transformations witnessed in her meetings, and she always gave Him the glory for all that was accomplished.
