From Rock Bottom to Rock Star to Resting
Lacey Sturm was the lead singer of Flyleaf, a rock band that sold millions of albums. But before the fame, there was darkness β addiction, suicidal thoughts, and a self-destructive lifestyle that nearly ended her life at seventeen.
Jesus saved her. Literally.
After her conversion, Lacey entered a season of healing. But relationships remained a minefield. An emotional affair with a married man left her devastated. She hit a wall of shame and concluded that maybe singleness was God's best for her.
She didn't just accept singleness β she embraced it. She fell deeply in love with Jesus and decided He was enough.
Then Josh Walked In
Josh Sturm was a guitarist for the band Kairos. When they met, Lacey wasn't looking. She wasn't even open to looking. But God had a different plan.
What followed was a courtship that Lacey documented in her book *The Mystery* β an honest, sometimes painful exploration of what it means to let God write your love story after you've stopped believing you deserve one.
They married in September 2008.
What This Means for You
Lacey's story is for the person who's been burned. The one who's decided that love isn't for them. The one who's made peace with being alone β not because they want to be, but because it feels safer.
God specialises in surprises. Not cruel ones β kind ones. The kind that come after you've finally stopped striving.
