Growing Up Muslim in America
Nabeel Qureshi was born in San Diego to Pakistani Ahmadi Muslim parents. His father served in the U.S. Navy, and Qureshi was raised with a deep passion for Islam. He was happy with his faith and his Ahmadi community.
Seeking Truth Through Friendship
At Old Dominion University, Qureshi met a Christian named David Wood. The two became friends and began a years-long debate on the historical claims of Christianity and Islam. Wood encouraged Qureshi to research both faiths objectively.
Finding Jesus Through Investigation
In his book "Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus," Qureshi describes his dramatic journey—complete with friendships, investigations, and supernatural dreams. Providing an intimate window into a loving Muslim home, he shares how he developed a passion for Islam before discovering, almost against his will, evidence that Jesus rose from the dead and claimed to be God.
The struggle was agonizing. Unable to deny the arguments but not wanting to deny his family, Qureshi experienced inner turmoil that challenged everything he knew. "Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus" tells a powerful story of the clash between Islam and Christianity in one man's heart—and of the peace he eventually found in Jesus.
Life Transformed Through Conversion
Qureshi ultimately converted to Christianity. The cost was enormous: leaving his faith meant potential estrangement from his beloved family and community.
After completing a Doctor of Medicine, Qureshi decided to spend his life studying and preaching the Gospel. He became a speaker for Ravi Zacharias International Ministries and completed master's degrees in apologetics from Biola University and in religion from Duke University.
His book became a New York Times Bestseller and won the 2015 Christian Book Award for both 'Best New Author' and 'Best Non-Fiction.'
Tragically, Nabeel Qureshi died of stomach cancer on September 16, 2017, at just 34 years old—but his testimony continues to impact Muslims and Christians worldwide.
