Haggai
2 chapters · Old Testament · Berean Standard Bible
The Temple lies in ruins while people renovate their own homes. Haggai asks: what are you prioritising? And then encourages them: "I am with you."
Chapters
The returned exiles have built their own paneled houses while God's temple lies in ruins. Haggai challenges them: consider your ways — you eat but never have enough, earn wages only to put them in a purse with holes. They obey and begin rebuilding the temple.
God encourages the discouraged builders: the glory of this latter house will be greater than the former. God will shake the heavens, earth, sea, and nations, and the desired of all nations will come. He declares Zerubbabel His chosen signet ring — a messianic symbol reversing Jehoiachin's curse.
