“When the disciples saw this, they marveled and asked, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?””

““How do You know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.””

“Then Jesus told this parable: “A man had a fig tree that was planted in his vineyard. He went to look for fruit on it but did not find any.”

“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its branches become tender and sprout leaves, you know that summer is near.”

““Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.”

“So he said to the keeper of the vineyard, ‘Look, for the past three years I have come to search for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Therefore cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’”

“Jesus said to him, “Do you believe just because I told you I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.””

“Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if there was any fruit on it. But when He reached it, He found nothing on it except leaves, since it was not the season for figs.”
