Growing Up in Devout Islam
Born on April 13, 1983, Nabeel Qureshi was raised in a devout Ahmadi Muslim family who had moved to the United States from Pakistan. His upbringing was steeped in the teachings of Islam, and he was taught to love Allah deeply. However, during his university years, a profound journey began. Engaging in rigorous debates with his Christian friend, David Wood, Nabeel was challenged to scrutinize both Islam and Christianity critically.
Supernatural Dreams Led to Faith
This intellectual exploration led Nabeel to encounter Jesus in unexpected ways. As he shared, 'I left Islam by studying Muhammad, I saw the truth, the light, and life by studying Jesus.' His journey was not just academic; it was deeply personal. Nabeel experienced supernatural dreams and visions that seemed to confirm the truths he was discovering. One pivotal dream mirrored a parable from Luke 13, a passage he had never read, which he believed was a direct, personal message from God.
The Cost of Following Christ
The decision to embrace Christianity was not without its costs. Nabeel knew that following Jesus meant leaving behind the faith of his family and possibly losing their close-knit bond. Yet, he declared, 'All suffering is worth it to follow Jesus. He is that amazing.' On one significant night, he knelt at the foot of his bed, willing to give up everything to follow Christ, as he reflected on Matthew 10:38-39.
Life Transformed Through Ministry
After his conversion, Nabeel became a passionate apologist with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. He dedicated his life to sharing the Gospel, emphasizing love and truth in interfaith dialogues. His ministry was marked by a conviction that, as he put it, 'He reached me through investigations, dreams, and visions, and called me to prayer in my suffering.'
Nabeel Qureshi's transformation from a devout Muslim to a committed Christian was marked by both intellectual pursuit and divine intervention. Despite the emotional and relational challenges, he found profound joy and purpose in his new faith, leaving a legacy of love, peace, and truth.
