Born into a devout Ahmadi Muslim family in San Diego, Nabeel Qureshi was immersed in the teachings of Islam from a young age. Fluent in Urdu and Arabic, he memorized chapters of the Quran by age five and was trained in Islamic apologetics. His family, deeply rooted in their faith, shaped his identity and worldview. Yet, during his university years at Old Dominion, Nabeel's life took an unexpected turn. Engaging in debates with his friend David Wood, Nabeel was challenged to examine the historical claims of Christianity and Islam.
Seeking Truth Through Dreams and Visions
As Nabeel delved into these studies, he found the evidence for the New Testament's reliability and Jesus's resurrection compelling. However, it was not just intellectual inquiry that guided him. Nabeel experienced dreams and visions that he believed were divine guidance leading him toward Christianity. He described a powerful moment when, feeling the weight of his decision, he sought comfort from the Quran and the Bible. The Quran offered no solace, but the Bible spoke directly to his heart.
Muslim to Christian Conversion Decision
On the first day of his second year of medical school, Nabeel made the life-altering decision to follow Jesus. He later reflected, 'I began mourning the impact of the decision I knew I had to make... It was there that I found Jesus. To follow him is worth giving up everything.' This decision came at a great personal cost, as he faced estrangement from his family, but he held fast to the hope found in Mark 10:29.
Life Transformed by Jesus
After his conversion, Nabeel became a fervent speaker and author, sharing his journey in books like *Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus*. His story of transformation reached many, demonstrating the power of truth, love, and the transformative impact of Jesus. Even as he battled stage IV stomach cancer, Nabeel's faith remained unshaken. He once wrote, 'All suffering is worth it to follow Jesus. He is that amazing.' His life and testimony continue to inspire, showing that Jesus is indeed the source of hope and salvation.
