Navy SEAL Christian Faith Foundation
Chris Kyle, renowned as the 'American Sniper', was not only a decorated Navy SEAL but also a man shaped by his faith. Born on April 8, 1974, in Odessa, Texas, Chris was raised in a Christian home where faith was a cornerstone. 'My family had a deep faith in God. My dad was a deacon, and my mom taught Sunday school,' Kyle wrote. This foundation followed him into his military career, where he served with distinction during the Iraq War. Known as 'The Devil of Ramadi' by insurgents, Chris carried a Bible with him from his SEAL training days, seeking comfort in its passages during the throes of battle.
Combat Soldier Christian Faith Tested
Chris grappled with moral conflicts, particularly highlighted by his first kill, a woman carrying a grenade. He remained steadfast, believing that 'everyone I shot was evil. I had good cause on every shot. They all deserved to die'. Despite the moral weight of his actions, Chris found solace in his faith, expressing, 'When I do go face God there is going to be lots of things I will have to account for but killing any of those people is not one of them.' He believed his acceptance of Jesus as his savior would be his salvation.
Military Veteran Faith in Action
After being honorably discharged in 2009, Chris dedicated himself to helping veterans. He founded Craft International and the FITCO Cares Foundation, providing support to those suffering from PTSD. Tragically, on February 2, 2013, Chris was murdered while helping a fellow veteran, yet his legacy endures. His wife, Taya Kyle, exemplified forgiveness, stating, 'I don't forgive the act. I forgive the person as a child of God.'
