Bruce Van Natta was working as a mechanic in Wisconsin when a logging truck fell on him. The axle — weighing thousands of pounds — pinned him to the concrete floor and crushed his midsection. The injuries were catastrophic.
One Percent Chance
Emergency surgery revealed the extent of the damage. Five major arteries were severed. Most of his small intestine was destroyed. Surgeons removed all but about 100 centimetres — roughly a third of what a human needs to survive. He was given a one percent chance of living.
He survived. But survival was its own battle. Without enough intestine to absorb nutrition, his body began wasting away. He lost over 100 pounds. He could not eat normally. He was hooked to feeding tubes and told this would be his life — however long it lasted.
Two Men Prayed
Months after the accident, two men from a local church came to pray for him. They were not famous. They were not healers. They were believers who took James 5:14 seriously — when someone is sick, you pray.
They laid hands on Van Natta's abdomen and asked the Holy Spirit to do what no surgeon could: restore what had been destroyed.
The Scans That Silenced the Sceptics
At his next medical appointment, the imaging showed something his doctors could not explain. His small intestine had grown. Not scar tissue. Not a misreading. New, functional intestine — where there had been none.
His doctors measured it. The intestine that had been cut down to roughly 100 centimetres was now back to nearly full length. They ran the tests again. Same result. There was no medical explanation for intestinal regrowth of this magnitude in an adult.
Van Natta began eating normally again. The feeding tubes came out. The weight came back. His body functioned as if the accident had never happened.
The Holy Spirit Creates What Was Destroyed
Bruce Van Natta's testimony is not a metaphor. It is a medically documented case of the Holy Spirit doing what medicine calls impossible — creating new organ tissue in an adult body.
He was given a one percent chance. The Holy Spirit does not operate on percentages. He operates on authority. And when two ordinary believers asked Him to move, He grew back what had been destroyed.
Whatever has been taken from you — the Holy Spirit is not limited to restoration. He creates.
