The Impossible Invitation
Os Hillman was praying about organizing another workplace-leader summit when an email arrived from his mentor, Gunnar Olson. An international gathering of Christian workplace leaders was being planned on the island of Cyprus. Would Os consider postponing his event to participate?
Os laughed out loud at his computer screen. His first reaction was disbelief. He was struggling financially at the time - attending an international conference in Cyprus seemed absurdly impossible. In fact, he had to find a map just to see where Cyprus was located.
But God wasn't finished.
God Provided Conference Expenses Miraculously
The very next day, someone unexpectedly picked Os up for a meeting. During the drive, they mentioned they were also picking up a missionary flying in - from Cyprus.
"By the way," the person continued, "we are planning to take 25 workplace believers to Cyprus for an event that Gunnar Olson is involved in. Would you like to come and teach your Esau-to-Joseph workshop the day before? We will cover your expenses."
Os could hardly believe what he was hearing. Within 24 hours of receiving Gunnar's email about Cyprus - while having no resources to attend - someone had independently offered to cover his entire trip.
"I had to laugh as I saw the hand of God orchestrate in such a miraculous way and in such a timely manner," Os later wrote. It was as if God was confirming the invitation with unmistakable clarity.
Divine Orchestration Unfolds Perfectly
Os attended the Cyprus gathering. It became another pivotal moment in his journey, connecting him with workplace leaders from around the world and expanding the vision God had placed in his heart.
There are no coincidences with God. The email, the map, the stranger, the missionary from Cyprus, the paid expenses - all woven together in divine orchestration. When God wants to move someone, He makes a way even when there seems to be no way.
