David du Plessis, Cape Town: Pentecostal testimony South Africa reveals denominational unity through God, Smith Wigglesworth prophecy fulfilled.

David Johannes du Plessis, known as 'Mr. Pentecost,' was born on February 7, 1905, near Cape Town, South Africa. Growing up with missionary parents, David's life was steeped in faith. However, it was a dramatic encounter during a thunderstorm in 1916 that marked his conversion. As lightning struck, he cried out, 'Jesus! Save me! Save me!' and felt assured of his salvation.

Holy Spirit Baptism Testimony

Two years later, at just thirteen, David experienced a transformative encounter with the Holy Spirit. During a meeting in a coffin maker's storehouse, he was encouraged to confess past wrongdoings. A farm girl told him, 'If you will confess the thing that is on your conscience, He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.' Upon confessing a childhood lie, David had a vision of a book with pure, white pages and heard a voice affirming his forgiveness through Jesus' sacrifice.

Smith Wigglesworth Prophecy Fulfilled

This profound experience ignited a passion within David to bridge gaps between Pentecostal and historic churches. Smith Wigglesworth, a renowned preacher, prophesied that David would be instrumental in bringing Pentecostal revival to traditional denominations. This prophecy came to fruition as David engaged with leaders across Christian traditions, advocating for unity and the life-giving power of the Holy Spirit.

Global Ministry for Unity

His ministry, marked by ecumenical outreach, saw him interact with leaders from the Roman Catholic Church and the World Council of Churches. Despite initial resistance from his own denomination, David persisted, believing he was called to share the Pentecostal experience with all Christians. His efforts were recognized when Pope John Paul II awarded him the Benemerenti Medal in 1983.

David's journey from a young boy struck by lightning to a global Pentecostal leader illustrates the transformative power of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. His life remains a testament to the unifying work of God across denominational lines, giving glory to Jesus for every breakthrough and reconciliation achieved.
