Three Years of Silence
Pastor Duane Miller lost his voice in 1990 due to a viral infection that destroyed his vocal nerves. For three years, he could only whisper. Specialists said it was permanent.
In January 1993, Miller was teaching a Sunday School class at First Baptist Church in Houston. His voice was barely audible; they had to use special amplification.
He was teaching from Psalm 103: "He heals all your diseases."
Caught on Tape
What happened next was captured on tape. Mid-sentence, Miller's voice suddenly changed. It grew stronger. Then clear. Then fully restored - all in about ten seconds.
The congregation gasped, then erupted in praise. Miller, stunned, kept testing his voice. It was back. Completely.
Medically Impossible
Medical examinations showed his vocal cords had regenerated - something doctors said was medically impossible. The audio recording of that moment has been heard around the world.
"I didn't ask for healing that day," Miller said. "I was just teaching the Word. God had His own timing."
