Kenneth E. Hagin, born in McKinney, Texas, on August 20, 1917, faced a life of severe health challenges from the outset. Born with a deformed heart and a serious blood disease, young Hagin was not expected to live. At 15, he became paralyzed and bedridden, his future seemingly bleak. However, in April 1933, a pivotal moment transformed his life. During this time, Hagin had a profound conversion experience. He recounted a near-death experience where he felt himself being drawn toward hell, seeing terrifying flames and a creature grabbing him. In desperation, he prayed, 'O God! I come to You in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I ask You to forgive me of my sins and cleanse me from all sin.' This plea for forgiveness marked his transfer, as he described, 'out of the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God's Son, Jesus Christ.'
Kenneth Hagin Healing Through Scripture
On August 8, 1934, after reading Mark 11:23-24, Hagin believed in his heart that he was healed. He declared, 'Thank God, according to the Word of God I'm healed,' and experienced a warm glow as feeling returned to his body. Medical confirmation of his healing soon followed, altering the course of his life. This verse became central to his ministry, emphasizing faith in God's promises.
Divine Visions and Ministry Calling
Hagin's ministry journey began in 1936 with the founding of his first church. His calling expanded in 1949 when Jesus appeared to him, prompting him to travel as a Bible teacher and evangelist. Over the years, he claimed to have eight personal visitations from Jesus. One significant vision occurred on September 2, 1950, in Rockwall, Texas, where he described being taken to heaven and hearing Jesus urge him to share hope with others. 'My people are so careless and indifferent... Share your hope with them, invite them to come with you,' Jesus instructed.
Legacy of Faith and Healing
These experiences fueled Hagin's passion for spreading the message of faith and healing, leading to the founding of Rhema Bible Training College in 1974. His teaching, rooted in the Word of Faith movement, impacted countless lives. Kenneth Hagin passed away on September 19, 2003, but his legacy of faith and healing continues to inspire many. Jesus was the source of his healing and transformation, and Hagin dedicated his life to sharing this truth with the world.
