A Quiet Impression
I was folding laundry. That's it. Just standing at the dryer, folding towels, thinking about nothing in particular.
And then God spoke.
Not audibly. Not dramatically. Just a quiet impression that settled into my heart: "I am with you in this."
I stopped folding. "In what?" I asked out loud. "The laundry?"
The impression came again: "In everything. I am with you in everything."
Looking for God in the Mundane
I had spent years chasing "spiritual experiences." I went to conferences, read books, sought out prophetic words. I thought encountering God required special circumstances.
But there He was, in my laundry room. Present in the ordinary.
That day changed how I live. I started looking for God in the mundaneβin traffic, in meetings, in bedtime routines with my kids. And I found Him. Everywhere.
Tuesday Afternoon with Towels
"The earth is full of the glory of the Lord," the Bible says. I always thought that meant sunsets and mountains. Now I know it also means laundry rooms and grocery stores.
Brother Lawrence called it "practicing the presence of God." I call it Tuesday afternoon with a basket of towels.
