Abortion Survivor Born Against All Odds
Gianna Jessen was born on April 6, 1977, in Los Angeles, California, under circumstances few could imagine. Her biological mother, just 17 years old, sought an abortion while seven and a half months pregnant. The procedure chosen was a saline abortion, meant to ensure death within 24 hours. Yet, against all odds, Gianna was born alive. As she recounts, 'I was born in an abortion clinic in Los Angeles because of the sheer power and for the glory of Jesus Christ.'
The attending abortionist was not present when Gianna arrived, and a nurse, recognizing the miracle before her, called an ambulance. Weighing just two and a half pounds, Gianna was transferred to a hospital and placed in an incubator. The lack of oxygen during the procedure left her with cerebral palsy. Doctors predicted a grim future, declaring she would never walk or even hold her head up. But Gianna's life was in God's hands.
God Heals Cerebral Palsy Through Faith
Placed in foster care and later adopted, Gianna's journey to defy expectations began. Her foster mother, Penny, provided rigorous physical therapy, and by the age of three and a half, Gianna could walk with a walker and leg braces. Her determination and faith led her to achieve what seemed impossible. As Gianna shares, 'The Lord makes the lame to walk, and not just walk. I finished two marathons as well.'
Testimony Impacts Nations and Governments
Gianna's life is a testament to her faith in Jesus and her belief in the sanctity of life. At 14, she began speaking against abortion, asking, 'If abortion is about women's rights, then where were mine?' She has testified before Congress, the Australian Parliament, and the British House of Commons, sharing her conviction that 'abortion is the killing of a human being.'
Living an Extraordinary Life for Jesus
Her message is powerful: 'We are in an interesting battle, whether we realise it or not, in this world. It's a battle between life and death. What side are you on?' Gianna's life and advocacy serve as a vivid reminder of the value of every human life and the miraculous power of Jesus. Her testimony inspires countless others, as she states, 'Sometimes there are things we can only learn from the weakest among us and it is our loss when we remove them from our society.'
Through her life, Gianna gives glory to God, affirming, 'I didn't an easy life, I signed up for an extraordinary one. And I didn't sign up to live for myself, I signed up to live for Jesus.'
