You can kill me, but you cannot take my faith in Jesus

A faith they could not confiscate

2021-2022🇧🇩Bangladesh

Nur Alam and Afzal Hosen left Islam for Jesus in 2021 and shared their faith across Bangladesh. Both were kidnapped and threatened, and both refused to deny Christ.

Doxa is where Christians record what God has said and done, and return to remember it.

At some point during the interrogation, they became hopeless, seeing my strong faith in Jesus.

Nur Alam and Afzal Hosen left Islam to follow Jesus in 2021, and they were baptised soon after. They did not keep it quiet. They wanted the Muslim community they came from to know the Jesus they had found, so they handed out Bibles and booklets around their part of Bangladesh.

That is when the trouble started. A group seized Nur and locked him in a room for thirty hours, no food, no water, no sleep, demanding he return to Islam and threatening to kill him and his family. He would not bend. "At some point during the interrogation," Nur said, "they became hopeless, seeing my strong faith in Jesus."

A faith they could not confiscate Days after Nur was freed, they came for Afzal. They beat him and accused him of being paid to convert. His answer has the ring of the early church about it. "You can kill me," he told them, "but you cannot take my faith in the Lord Jesus away from me."

Both men were released, bruised and exhausted and still standing. They had discovered the thing every threat runs into eventually. You can take a man's freedom, his comfort, even his life, but the faith Jesus plants in a heart is not yours to seize.

If Jesus is worth that to two young men in Bangladesh, He is worth your whole life too.
