From Golf Dreams to Business Setbacks
Hillman's journey began with dreams of becoming a professional golfer. By the age of fourteen, he had already achieved remarkable feats in junior golf, with his eyes set on a professional career. However, his life took a different turn when he ventured into business, operating an ad agency in Atlanta for 12 years. During this time, he experienced significant setbacks, such as losing $50,000 on a project called "Christians in Business" in the mid-1990s.
God Redeems Business Mistakes
Amidst these challenges, Hillman turned to God, seeking guidance and redemption. He realized that his calling was greater than his mistakes, and he embraced the role of a spiritual leader, helping others integrate their faith into their work. Hillman once said, "God will really redeem those mistakes for His purposes if we turn to Him." This realization led to the creation of TGIF, a daily devotional he began writing in 1997 and distributing via email in 1998.
Building a Global Workplace Ministry
In 1995, Hillman founded Marketplace Leaders, an organization dedicated to helping people see their work as a platform for ministry. TGIF quickly gained popularity, with over 180,000 rs, offering encouragement and guidance for incorporating faith into daily work life. Hillman has authored 27 books on the subject, and his influence has reached leaders in more than 26 nations through his speaking engagements and training sessions.
Os Hillman's story exemplifies the transformative power of faith in the workplace. His dedication to integrating faith and work has equipped countless individuals to live out their calling and impact the world through their professions.
