A Worldly Life in Guatemala
Carlos Enrique Luna Arango, known to many as Cash Luna, was born on March 4, 1962, in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Raised in a Catholic household, Cash experienced the challenges of a broken family after his parents divorced, leaving him to be raised by his mother. Despite his religious upbringing, Cash was initially resistant to a deeper faith commitment. He pursued secular education, graduating with a degree in Information Systems Management, and enjoyed worldly pursuits, including music, partying, and business.
A Dramatic Turn at Twenty
At the age of 16, Cash encountered Jesus for the first time but found himself placing conditions on following Christ. It wasn't until he was 20 years old, in 1982, that Cash's life took a dramatic turn. During a night out with friends, he was invited to attend 'Fraternidad Cristiana,' a local church. That invitation changed everything. Cash says he 'knew the fatherhood of God' during this time and made the decision to become a born-again Christian.
After accepting Jesus, Cash experienced a spontaneous transformation. He developed an immediate conviction to abandon his previous lifestyle, including drinking and smoking, without external prompting. The day following his conversion, he felt compelled to buy his first Bible. This marked the beginning of his new journey, driven by a desire for more of God.
In 1994, Cash felt a calling from Jesus to start a ministry. Together with his wife Sonia, he founded Casa de Dios in Guatemala City. What began as three families meeting in a living room quickly blossomed into one of the largest congregations in Latin America. Known for its dynamic services, Casa de Dios emphasizes the transformational work of the Holy Spirit.
Cash Luna's ministry expanded beyond the church walls, as he became known for his televangelism and international healing crusades. He has maintained that his ministry's achievements are the result of faith in Jesus. Despite facing criticism and controversy, including accusations of links to drug trafficking and questioning of his faith healing practices, Cash remains committed to his calling. He once remarked, 'I am clear about what God called me to do and I am going to do it.'
Through his ministry, Cash Luna has witnessed and ministered miracles, always attributing these to the power of Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit. His story is a testament to a life transformed by faith, and the profound impact one individual's commitment to God can have on a community.
