Surviving the Devastating Nepal Earthquake
On April 25, 2015, a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. In the heart of Kathmandu, Bambie Panta sat at home with her family as the earth shook violently. In the chaos, she found herself outside, unsure of how she had escaped the collapsing apartment. For three harrowing days, Bambie and her loved ones stayed in an open area, cut off from the world, fearing for their lives.
God's Protection Turns Hearts
Reflecting on the experience, Bambie remarked, "I really think God has given me a second chance to live... I have to make use of my life...to help people as much as I can." Embracing this new lease on life, she became a vital part of 'Rise Nepal', a movement dedicated to rebuilding and healing her shattered community.
Meanwhile, Pastor Robbin Vaidhya, director of BCM Nepal and pastor of Milestone Church, was leading a worship service when the quake struck. The congregation managed to escape to safety. This tragedy transformed the community's perception of the church. "Before the earthquake, we faced many obstacles and persecution from our neighbors," Robbin explained. "Now they all show positive feelings about our church because we helped them in a bad situation and showed our love and care for them. Praise God for all this."
Divine Provision Brings Miraculous Healing
In Gorkha, Buddhiman, a farmer and carpenter, faced a dire situation. Already unable to walk due to a previous accident, the earthquake destroyed his home and left him facing the possibility of amputation. However, through the intervention of the International Nepal Fellowship (INF), Buddhiman received treatment and an artificial limb, enabling him to walk again and return to his work. "INF has made my dream of walking again a reality," he shared, filled with gratitude.
Faith Transforms Disaster Into Purpose
These stories of survival and faith highlight the resilience of the Nepalese people and the power of divine intervention. Jesus provided hope and healing, transforming despair into renewed purpose. The testimonies of individuals like Bambie, Robbin, and Buddhiman stand as a testament to the enduring strength of faith in the face of overwhelming adversity.
