From New Age Spirituality to Success
Steven Bancarz grew up in a Christian home but found himself drawn away by the intriguing allure of New Age spirituality. His fascination began with a television program about ancient aliens, which led him down a path of exploring ancient astronaut theories, meditation, and even psychedelics. He believed in pantheism, imagining that God was the universe, and that Jesus was merely a self-realized individual. This path led him to create a successful website, *Spirit Science and Metaphysics*, which earned him significant financial success.
Depression Despite Outward Achievement
Yet, despite his outward achievements, Steven was deeply troubled. He struggled with depression, anxiety, and a sense of moral decay. He described himself as "a slave to my psychological programs," feeling unable to escape the turmoil within. Then, in a moment of desperation, Steven cried out to God, saying, "OK, that's it. I'm done playing games, God. I just want you. Jesus, I want you in your fullness."
Jesus Encounter on the Deck
In September 2015, on his back deck, Steven encountered Jesus. He felt a supernatural peace and realized the truth of Jesus' lordship. He repeatedly declared, "Jesus is Lord, Jesus is Lord, it's so simple." This experience marked a turning point, leading him to renounce his New Age beliefs. He apologized publicly for leading others astray and dismantled parts of his business that propagated false teachings.
Life Transformed Through Christian Faith
Steven's life transformed as he embraced Christianity. He founded *Reasons for Jesus*, an apologetics website, and co-authored a book warning against New Age deception. He also became involved in ministry, pastoring young adults at his local church. Reflecting on his journey, Steven said, "I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life. I feel more whole than I've ever been in my life." Through Jesus, Steven found the peace and purpose he had long sought.
