Norm Miller's story is one of transformation from a life burdened by addiction to one filled with purpose, driven by his faith in Jesus. Born in Galveston, Texas, Norm joined Interstate Batteries in 1962, quickly climbing the ranks to become President and Chairman by 1978. Despite his professional success, Norm's personal life was unraveling due to his dependence on alcohol. For two decades, he found himself drinking heavily, often blacking out, and facing multiple DWIs. His marriage was under strain, and he felt unfulfilled despite his financial achievements.
God Delivers from Alcoholism
A pivotal moment came in 1974 when Norm was pulled over for drunk driving but remarkably, the officer let him go without a ticket. The next morning, faced with the reality of his addiction, Norm cried out, 'God help me! I can't handle it!' In that moment, he felt God's presence lift the burden of his addiction. Norm committed his life to Christ and began a new journey.
Finding Faith and Purpose
Encouraged by a friend to read the Bible, Norm discovered a profound truth in its pages and recognized his need for change. 'I realized I was contrary to God's desires and a sinner,' he reflected. This realization sparked a transformation in his life, shifting his priorities from worldly success to experiencing and sharing God's love.
Business Leader Transformed by Christ
Norm integrated Christian principles into the corporate culture of Interstate Batteries and co-founded 'I Am Second,' a platform sharing stories of faith. His leadership extended beyond business, involving him with ministries and educational institutions.
Through his journey, Norm Miller learned that life is about more than material wealth. 'God really brought purpose to my life. Life is more than money. Love is what matters,' he shared. Today, Norm's story is a testament to the power of faith in overcoming addiction and finding true purpose in Jesus.
