Alisa Latty-Alleyne: The End of Her Husband's Life Was the Beginning of Hers

The Kitchen Floor

2020🇬🇧Coventry, England, United Kingdom

Alisa Latty-Alleyne was a six-figure tech executive when her husband Benny died suddenly at 30. Three years later, suicidal on her kitchen floor in Coventry, she surrendered to God around 2020. Baptised at Coventry Elim Church, she went on to join Christian ministry and is now the first female UK director of the Christian Broadcasting Network.

Doxa is where Christians record what God has said and done, and return to remember it.

Alisa Latty-Alleyne had built the life that is supposed to work. A six-figure vice-president role at Tata Technologies. A 30 million dollar business unit under her leadership. A move from Coventry to Michigan with her husband Benny and their son Jacob. Then Benny, aged 30, suffered an asthma attack and cardiac arrest, and died.

The life that was supposed to work stopped working all at once. Alisa quit the corporate world, returned to Coventry as a widow and single mother, and spent the next three years grieving a man and a future.

The Kitchen Floor

Three years after Benny's death, the grief reached its darkest point. Alone in her kitchen, suicidal, Alisa came to the end of her own strength. And there, in what she calls the moment that changed everything, she surrendered to God.

She started attending Coventry Elim Church, and she was baptised. The woman who had run a 30 million dollar business unit discovered something no salary had given her: the near presence of a God who is close to the brokenhearted.

A New Kind of Career

What Jesus rebuilt was not a copy of the old life. In January 2021 Alisa took a role with the ministry Christian Vision. Later she answered a job advert on Facebook for the Christian Broadcasting Network. Within two months she was head of media. Marketing and fundraising followed. Today she is the UK director of CBN, the first woman to hold the role, helping lead a mission to see a million people find the salvation she found on a kitchen floor in Coventry.

She puts the whole arc in one sentence: "The end of Benny's life was the beginning of mine."

Beauty From the Worst Chapter

Alisa does not pretend the loss was good. It was the worst thing that ever happened to her. But Jesus met her inside it, not around it. What was a career became a calling, what was despair became purpose, and what was an ending became, in His hands, a beginning. "What is beautiful about my journey now is that it is purposeful."
