Cartel Member's Life of Violence
Sixto JesΓΊs Meza once lived a life entangled with darkness and violence, working for a drug cartel in Matamoros, Mexico, for nearly seven years. His life took a drastic turn in 2012 when police surrounded his van and opened fire. A bullet severed his spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed. In that moment of desperation, as soldiers presumed him dead, Sixto pleaded, 'I asked God for another opportunity...another chance to see my kids, to see them grow up.'
Faith and Community Intervention
His sister, Cira, stood by him, declaring to the doctors, 'I trust in God. My brother is going to live.' Her faith, coupled with the visits from members of the Balcones de Alcala Church of Christ, who found Sixto after he called out to them, played a significant role in his transformation. Through their compassion and the message they shared about Jesus, Sixto found hope. He was baptized and began a new chapter in life, proclaiming, 'I don't work for the cartel anymore. I work for God. I work for the one who moves the whole universe.'
Working for God Now
Sixto now dedicates his life to sharing God's salvation with others, distributing brochures and speaking about his faith journey. His transformation is a testament to Jesus's power to intervene and change even the most broken lives. Sixto's story underscores the importance of community and faith, showing that no matter how deep one has sunk, there is always hope and redemption through Christ.
