Nicholas Duncan-Williams was born on May 12, 1957, in Ghana. Despite the odds against him from the start—including the loss of his twin at birth and growing up with 43 siblings—Nicholas learned to navigate a challenging childhood largely on his own. His early years were marked by a lack of parental attention and a wayward path, deeply influenced by destructive behaviors.
Hospital Bed Conversion Story
A life-altering event occurred in 1976 at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. Nicholas, then suffering from severe burns after a spiritual attack led him to thrust his fingers into a candle flame, found himself bedridden. It was there that nurses, including Mrs. Raj and the Acquah sisters, reached out to him with the message of Jesus Christ. On his hospital bed, Nicholas had a profound encounter with God that transformed his life. He committed to spreading the gospel and serving God for the rest of his days.
Divine Rescue from Truck Accident
Reflecting on a near-death experience, Nicholas once recounted, "About 50 years ago, I had an accident. It was a very bad accident; many people died. The truck somersaulted into the valley. I screamed 'Jesus,' and an invisible hand picked me from my shoulders, carried me from the valley at Bulgatanga, and placed me on my feet." He believes this divine rescue was part of God's plan for his life.
From Darkness to Ministry Calling
After his conversion, Nicholas received his Holy Spirit baptism and pursued pastoral training at the Church of God Mission International Bible College in Nigeria. He returned to Ghana to establish Christian Action Faith Ministries, the first Charismatic church in the nation. Today, he serves as the Presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, a ministry with a global reach.
Through his ministry, Nicholas has touched countless lives, writing books that teach strategic prayer and encourage individuals to stand as intercessors. His humanitarian efforts through Compassion in Action have further demonstrated his commitment to serving others. In 2017, *New African Magazine* recognized him as one of the most influential Africans, a testament to the impact of his faith journey.
Nicholas Duncan-Williams' story is a powerful testament to Jesus' transformative power, turning a life once marred by darkness into one of light and purpose.
