Medical Crisis in Paris
In June 1985, Howard Storm, an atheist and art professor from Northern Kentucky University, found himself in a dire situation. While leading a college field trip in Paris, France, he was struck by a life-threatening duodenal perforation. As he lay in Hopital Cochin, awaiting delayed surgery, Storm experienced something that would change his life forever.
Near Death Experience Jesus Rescue
Storm describes leaving his body and entering a realm of darkness where malevolent beings tormented him. In his words, they "tore me apart to shreds." He realized these beings were deceiving him, and in that moment of despair, a voice urged him to pray to God. Despite his atheism, Storm recalled childhood prayers and cried out to Jesus. As he did, he was miraculously rescued by "spiritual beings of light."
Encountering the Being of Light
He encountered a "Being of Light," whom he identified as Jesus. Embraced by a love so profound it was tangible, Storm was shown a vision of Heaven and given insights about life, love, and faith. He learned that the most important thing was to love others and that the "correct religion" is the one that brings you closest to God. Though he wished to remain in this heavenly realm, he was told he needed to develop his character on earth.
Professor Became Minister Testimony
Upon returning to his body, the timing of his surgery was suddenly expedited. After recovering from severe complications, including pneumonia and hepatitis, Storm returned to the United States a changed man. He abandoned his atheistic views, pursued theological studies, and became an ordained minister. For over two decades, he served as a pastor, sharing his testimony and dedicating his life to spreading the Gospel.
Storm's journey from atheism to faith is a powerful testament to the transformative power of encountering Jesus. His story, chronicled in his book, 'My Descent Into Death,' continues to inspire those searching for meaning and hope.
