Thirteen Years of Prayer
In 1904, a twenty-six-year-old Welsh coal miner named Evan Roberts had a vision: 100,000 souls added to the Kingdom. He had been praying for revival for thirteen years.
One night at a prayer meeting, Roberts stood and said simply: "I have a message for you from God. You must confess any known sin to God. Second, you must put away any doubtful habit. Third, you must obey the Holy Spirit promptly. Fourth, you must confess Christ publicly."
The Holy Spirit Fell
The Holy Spirit fell. People began weeping, confessing sins, reconciling with enemies. The meeting lasted until 3am. Word spread. The next night, more came. Then more.
Within weeks, churches across Wales were packed. Meetings had no formal program - people prayed, sang, confessed, testified as the Spirit led. Services lasted six, eight, even twelve hours.
100,000 Souls
Bars closed for lack of customers. Crime dropped so drastically that judges had no cases. Policemen formed quartets to sing in the revivals. Coal miners reported that pit ponies stopped working because they no longer recognized commands without profanity.
Within six months, over 100,000 people had converted - exactly as Roberts had envisioned. The revival spread to every continent.
"Bend the church and save the world."
