Peter Michell, Director of the UK International Christian Chamber of Commerce and a chartered accountant, tells this remarkable story of God's provision in the marketplace.
A £300,000 Financial Crisis
Two of his business clients were managing a small public company when they hit a cashflow crisis. The situation was serious - the cash forecast revealed they needed £300,000 in capital immediately. The bank had firmly refused to lend any more money. Creditors were already stretched to their limits. Without a miracle, the company would collapse.
As their accountant, Peter could see the numbers. From a purely financial perspective, there was no solution. But Peter was not just an accountant - he was a man of faith.
Prayer for Business Miracle
"I will pray about this," Peter told his clients. "I will ask the Lord to send us the £300,000 we need."
The response was somewhat muted. Perhaps they thought it was a kind gesture. Perhaps they doubted. But Peter prayed.
God Provides the Exact Amount
Within two weeks - just fourteen days - the business was approached by a completely new client who wanted a substantial job done in six months' time. The remarkable part? They agreed to pay upfront. The amount received: £225,000.
But God wasn't finished. Another new client appeared, also wanting work done and willing to pay in advance. That payment: £75,000.
£225,000 plus £75,000 equals exactly £300,000.
Company Saved and Thriving
The problem was completely solved. Not through clever financing, not through debt restructuring, but through the sovereign provision of God who heard a simple prayer and responded with precision.
Four years later, Peter could report that the company was still trading - profitably.
"This is the miraculous new dimension of Jesus at work," Peter writes. "The world is open to businessmen in places where it is closed to missionaries."
