Jesus Vision Transforms Islamic Teacher
In the heart of Uganda, a land where faith often intertwines with conflict, Wambuzi Maka Uthman, once a respected Islamic teacher, experienced an encounter that would change his life forever. In August 2025, during prayer in a mosque in Mayuge District, Uthman had a vision of Jesus. This vision led him to embrace Christianity with a newfound fervor. "I told them that I am not mad and started sharing with them the dramatic vision of Issa (Jesus) appearing to me," Uthman recounted. However, his revelation was met with hostility. Family members and relatives saw his new faith as a betrayal.
Persecution and Family Rejection
The consequences were severe. Uthman was beaten by his own relatives, his home was destroyed, and his family turned their backs on him. Said Isabirye Muhammad, his brother, expressed the communal sentiment, "We cannot continue staying with this infidel who is telling us things about Jesus as the Son of God, yet for us we know him as a messenger of Allah alone." Despite the physical and emotional wounds, Uthman found solace in his faith, stating, "I was so happy beyond expectations as I developed a deeper love for Jesus. My wife could not believe the Good News which I was sharing with her."
Muslim Converts Face Deadly Consequences
Meanwhile, in Kaliro town, a Muslim couple, Kaiga Muhammad and Sawuya Kaiga, along with their son Swagga, faced a similar fate. After Swagga experienced healing from malaria, the family converted to Christianity. This newfound faith came with a deadly price. On December 26, 2024, their home was set ablaze by local extremists, resulting in their tragic deaths, a stark reminder of the peril faced by those who change their faith.
Another story of courage is that of Mohammed Nagi from Nyanza South village. He embraced Christianity in March 2025, only to face threats and ultimately his death in August the same year. His murder, orchestrated by those who once called him family, underscores the harsh reality for many converts.
Standing Firm Despite Adversity
In each of these stories, the unwavering commitment to their new-found faith amidst persecution is evident. These individuals found a profound peace and joy in their relationship with Jesus, despite the very real and dangerous threats they faced. Their testimonies highlight the transformative power of the Gospel and serve as a testament to the courage it takes to stand firm in faith.
As we reflect on these accounts, let us give glory to Jesus, who reaches into the hearts of those seeking truth and transforms their lives, even in the face of adversity.
