In the rural areas of Bangladesh, where faith is often tested by fire, Nur Alam and Afzal Hosen have become beacons of resilience. Both men, once followers of Islam, made the life-altering decision to follow Jesus in 2021. Their newfound faith led them to share the message of hope with their community, distributing Bibles and religious booklets. This boldness, however, came at a great cost.

Kidnapped for Christian Faith

One day, Nur recounted a harrowing experience: "Two unknown people came to my home and asked me to follow them a bit ahead of my home yard, saying their boss would like to talk to me and he was sitting in a minibus," he said. As he approached, they forced him into the vehicle and whisked him away, holding him for 30 hours without food, water, or sleep. Meanwhile, Afzal faced a brutal beating, yet his spirit remained unbroken. "You can kill me, but you cannot take my faith in the Lord Jesus away from me," Afzal declared to his captors.

Faith Unshaken Despite Persecution

Despite their severe trials, both men refused to renounce their faith. "At some point during the interrogation, they became hopeless, seeing my strong faith in Jesus," Nur shared. "Knowing that their strategy was not working at all, they left me at a place and told me not to share with anybody about what had happened with me."

Former Imam Stands Firm

In another part of Bangladesh, Rahman, a former imam, faced similar challenges after embracing Christianity. Once respected, he was now ostracized by his community, his friends turned enemies. When pressured by village leaders to return to Islam, Rahman stood firm: "This is my last and final decision: For the rest of my life, I will follow the Lord Jesus Christ."

These stories of unwavering faith amidst persecution testify to the power of Jesus' love and the strength He provides. Despite overwhelming odds, these believers continue to stand firm, attributing their resilience and peace to their relationship with Jesus, who remains their source of hope and courage.
