From War Zone Interpreter to Trauma
Waleed Hamza, often called 'Wii', served as an interpreter for the U.S. Army during the Iraq War, a role that exposed him to profound loss and trauma. His heart was once filled with anger and a thirst for vengeance, especially after witnessing the devastation of war firsthand. However, his journey took a significant turn when he moved to the United States and met a Christian couple who introduced him to the faith that would ultimately transform his life.
Jesus Appeared in Dream Testimony
His pivotal encounter with faith happened during a deployment to Afghanistan. In a state of turmoil and displacement, Waleed visited a church for the first time. There, he experienced an overwhelming sense of peace that was foreign to him amidst the chaos he had known. This peace was further solidified by a dream he had of Jesus while in Afghanistan, and later, a visit to the Blue Mosque in Turkey left him feeling out of place, nudging him toward accepting Christ.
Ministry Born from Military Testimony
Upon his return, Waleed's life was changed. He was honorably discharged from the military in 2013, married his wife Hannah, and started a family. More importantly, he founded Redefined Warriors, a ministry dedicated to helping veterans find purpose and identity through faith in Christ. Reflecting on his transformation, Waleed shared with Hannah, 'I met him, I met Jesus. Now I have peace. It's not the work that you do. It's what has been done you're accepted. Doesn't matter who you are. you already accept it'.
Finding Peace After Trauma
Waleed's story is a testament to Jesus' power to bring healing and peace even in the most tumultuous times. From a life marked by anger and revenge to one of purpose and peace, Waleed's journey illustrates how faith can redefine one's sense of identity and mission.
