A Desperate Prayer for a Dying Father
In 1958, Liu Zhenying, later known as Brother Yun, was born in the humble surroundings of a farming village in Henan, China. His early years were marred by extreme poverty and loss, with his family barely clinging to hope. A turning point came in 1974 when Yun was just 16. His father was critically ill with lung cancer and had been given only days to live. ## Miraculous Healing Ignites Faith
In desperation, Yun's mother led their family in prayer to Jesus, whom they had only heard of through stories passed down from a Norwegian missionary. Miraculously, Yun's father was healed, sparking a revival in their family and village.
This transformative event ignited a deep longing in Yun to know Jesus personally. Despite the severe scarcity of Bibles, Yun embarked on a 100-day fast and prayer to obtain one. His persistence was rewarded when two men, guided by a vision, delivered a Bible to him. This provision of God's Word became a cornerstone in Yun's life as he memorized entire books of the Bible and committed himself to sharing his newfound faith.
Brother Yun's journey was not without trials. He became a significant figure in the Chinese house church movement, which led to intense persecution. In 1983, he was arrested and imprisoned in Nanyang. Despite the harsh conditions, Yun undertook a 74-day fast, relying on God's strength daily. He later recounted, 'During the long fast, my days were full of struggle, miracles, dreams, visions, and revelation from the Lord.'
One of the most remarkable episodes in Yun's life occurred on May 5, 1997, when he miraculously escaped from Zhengzhou Maximum Security Prison. Despite severe injuries from torture, he walked out of the prison unnoticed, a feat he attributes solely to God's intervention. He shared, 'If the guards shoot me, God, You receive my soul.' His escape was so inexplicable that even the Chinese government concluded he had no human assistance.
Today, Brother Yun resides in Germany, continuing to share his story and minister internationally. His life is a testament to the power and presence of Jesus, who healed, provided, and delivered him time and again. Brother Yun's unwavering faith and God's miraculous interventions in his life serve as a powerful reminder of God's love and power.
