Born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on October 28, 1953, David Ring entered the world with a monumental challengeβhe was born 'dead' for 18 minutes and developed cerebral palsy. Despite this, his life would become a testament to overcoming adversity through faith in Jesus Christ. As David often says, 'I have cerebral palsy... What's your problem?' This signature phrase encapsulates his mission to inspire others to conquer their own challenges.
Orphaned and Battling Depression
David's early years were marked by profound loss. His father, a Baptist pastor, passed away in 1964, leaving young David to grapple with the death of his mother four years later. Orphaned at 14, he bounced from home to home, battling depression and suicidal thoughts. Yet, this darkness was not the end of his story.
Finding Hope Through Jesus Christ
In 1970, with the support of his sister, David encountered Jesus Christ, an experience that transformed his life. He found hope and purpose, returning to Liberty High School in Missouri and graduating in 1971. He pursued further education at William Jewell College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976.
Called to Disability Ministry
Despite the physical challenges and speech difficulties imposed by cerebral palsy, God called David to ministry. Initially resistant, he embraced this calling and began sharing his story in 1973. Today, he speaks to over 100,000 people annually, urging them to overcome their personal hurdles through faith in Jesus.
Life Transformed by Faith
David's life is a vivid illustration of transformation. From a young man overwhelmed by despair, he emerged victorious, proclaiming, 'I have cerebral palsy, but cerebral palsy don't have me.' His ministry has touched countless lives, bringing the message of hope and resilience to people around the globe.
Living in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife Karen and their four children, David Ring continues to shine brightly, giving all glory to Jesus for the profound change in his life. His story is a powerful reminder that with Jesus, no challenge is insurmountable.
