Circuit Riders Revival in Finland
In Mikkeli, Finland, more than twenty young people responded to an altar call during a Circuit Riders evangelistic event - and remarkably, many of them didn't have any Christian background whatsoever.
The event was part of the "Carry the Love" tour, a two-month evangelistic campaign that traveled through over thirty European countries between January and March. The mission organization Circuit Riders, part of Youth With A Mission (YWAM), made what they described as "life-changing impact" on more than 1,500 young people by calling them to turn to Jesus.
Breaking Through Secular Culture
Finland, like much of Northern Europe, has been considered highly secular, with church attendance declining for decades. But something unexpected is happening. Young people with no religious background are showing up at Christian events and responding to the Gospel.
University Students Encounter Christ
After Mikkeli, the Circuit Riders team went to run another evangelistic event at the secular university of Tampere, where their call was answered by over a hundred students. The response at a secular university was particularly striking - these weren't students from Christian backgrounds seeking to deepen existing faith, but young people encountering the message of Jesus for the first time.
Europe's Quiet Revival Movement
These events in Finland are part of what observers are calling a "Quiet Revival" across Europe. Andreas Nordli of YWAM Norway has said he has "seen more young people coming to the Lord Jesus over the last two or three years than in the 27 years previous years combined."
