A Boy Born Into Famine
In the heart of Henan Province, China, in 1958, a boy named Liu Zhenying was born into a life of hardship, marked by famine and loss. At the age of 16, in 1974, his life took a dramatic turn when his father, gravely ill with lung cancer, was miraculously healed after his mother's fervent prayers. ## Revival Sparks in Their Village
This healing brought about a spiritual revival in their family and village, and Liu, who would later be known as Brother Yun, began his journey of faith.
Deeply moved by this miracle, Yun desired to know God more intimately. Bibles were scarce during the Cultural Revolution, but Yun's longing for the Word led him to fast and pray for 100 days. In response, God gave him a vision of receiving a Bible, which came to pass, igniting his passion for scripture and evangelism. As he memorized the book of Acts, he felt a divine call to spread the Gospel throughout China.
Despite severe persecution, including multiple imprisonments, Brother Yun remained steadfast. During an interrogation in 1984, he refused to reveal his identity to protect fellow believers, proclaiming, "I am a heavenly man! My home is in heaven!" This declaration earned him the nickname "The Heavenly Man."
One of the most remarkable instances of divine intervention occurred in 1997 when Yun was imprisoned in Zhengzhou Maximum Security Prison. After enduring brutal treatment, he heard the Holy Spirit instruct him to walk out of his cell. Obediently, he walked through the prison gates unnoticed by guards, a miraculous escape that defied natural explanation.
Throughout his imprisonments, Yun continued to share the message of Jesus, leading many, including fellow inmates and some guards, to faith. On one occasion, God provided a Bible for him in prison, which he cherished and used to minister to others.
Brother Yun's life is a testament to Jesus' power and faithfulness. Despite severe trials, he consistently gave glory to God, trusting in His provision and deliverance. As Brother Yun once said, "Lord, You are my strength, You are my shield, You are the one who lifts up my head... I will wait upon You, Lord." His unwavering commitment to his faith and his miraculous experiences continue to inspire believers worldwide.
