Surgery Scheduled for Monday
The young woman had been diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor. Surgery was scheduled for Monday. On Sunday night, her church gathered to pray.
The elders came forward with a small vial of olive oil. Following the pattern from James 5:14—"Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord"—they laid hands on her and anointed her with oil.
"We weren't being superstitious," the pastor recalled. "We were simply being obedient to Scripture."
The prayer wasn't dramatic. No one prophesied instant healing. They simply asked God to work according to His will.
The Tumor Was Gone
Monday morning, the surgical team prepared for a complex procedure. But when they did the pre-operative MRI, the room went silent.
The tumor was gone.
"There's nothing there," the surgeon said, reviewing the scans multiple times. "I've never seen anything like this. There's no explanation."

The woman today is a nurse, working in oncology.
"I tell my patients about James 5:14," she says. "I tell them that when the church obeys Scripture—even the strange parts like anointing with oil—God still works miracles."
