“If it weren't for Jesus, I would not be where I am today, and my life would be without purpose.”
Baseball player finds Christ: Albert Pujols testimony in Independence, MO church. Humble beginnings to MLB star.

From Poverty in the Dominican Republic

Albert Pujols grew up in poverty in the Dominican Republic, where his early life was filled with challenges. He played baseball with makeshift equipment, such as limes and milk cartons, and often found himself carrying his father home after drinking. In 1996, seeking a better life, his family moved to New York, but a violent incident prompted them to relocate to Independence, Missouri.

Encountering Jesus Through Love

In the spring of 1998, Albert's life took a transformative turn when his soon-to-be wife, Deidre, shared the love of Jesus with him. That year, he invited Jesus Christ into his life, marking the beginning of a profound change. Albert later reflected, "If it weren't for Jesus, I would not be where I am today, and my life would be without purpose."

Baseball as a Platform for Christ

Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1999, Albert's baseball career flourished, but he never lost sight of his faith. He viewed baseball as a platform to glorify God, saying, "God has given me the ability to succeed in the game of baseball... Baseball is simply my platform to elevate Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior." His commitment was evident off the field as well; in 2005, he established the Pujols Family Foundation to support individuals with Down syndrome and aid the impoverished in the Dominican Republic.

A Life Devoted to Christ

Albert's dedication to his faith and community is unwavering. "I don't just represent a baseball club; I represent Christ. That's the most important thing in my life," he emphasized. His story is a testament to the power of faith and the transformative impact of Jesus Christ. He summed up his life's goal succinctly: "My life's goal is to bring glory to Jesus."

Through his journey from poverty to purpose, Albert Pujols exemplifies how Jesus can transform lives and use personal platforms for His glory.
