A Life of Privilege
Born into a noble family in Pakistan, Bilquis Sheikh enjoyed a life of comfort and status. After her divorce, she retreated to her family estate in Wah, near Rawalpindi, seeking peace that seemed ever elusive. Despite her luxurious surroundings, she felt a deep dissatisfaction, a longing for something more profound.
Dreams and Visions
One evening, a chilling presence in her garden sparked a spiritual quest. Though not particularly religious, Bilquis began reading the Quran, which led her to question her faith. Her journey took a dramatic turn when she experienced vivid dreams and visions involving Jesus. In one poignant dream, she dined with Jesus, an encounter that resonated deeply with her.
As she read the Quran, she noticed references to Jesus and felt compelled to study the Bible. Romans 9:25-26 moved her profoundly, speaking of a God who calls people His own. A dream about a perfume salesman with a golden jar further illuminated her path, reminding her of 2 Corinthians 2:14, which described the knowledge of Christ spreading like a lovely perfume.
Crying Out to Jesus
In a moment of crisis, she was attacked by a terrifying presence. Desperately, she cried out, "Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!" and immediately felt a divine protection. Jesus appeared to her, assuring her, "Don't worry; it won't happen again."
Encouraged by a nun to talk to God as her Father, Bilquis experienced a breakthrough, sensing God's presence and feeling His hand on her head. She decided to accept Christ into her life, praying, "O God, don't wait a moment. Please come into my life. Every bit of me is open to You."
A Legacy of Courage
Her journey of faith led her to baptism, even though she knew it would cost her dearly. Her family and community rejected her, yet she responded with love, hosting a Christmas party for the Muslim community. In 1972, she moved to the United States, continuing to share her story. Bilquis returned to Pakistan later in life, passing away in 1997, leaving behind a legacy of courage and faith.
