Growing Up Muslim in Morocco
Born in a small village in Morocco in 1971, Rachid grew up in a devout Muslim family, with his father serving as an Imam. From a young age, he was immersed in the teachings of Islam, memorizing the Quran with dedication. Rachid's life took a significant turn at age 12 when he moved to Casablanca. During Ramadan, he stumbled upon a Christian radio program broadcasted in Arabic. This unexpected encounter sparked questions that would forever change his life.
Muslim to Christian Conversion Journey
By age 19, Rachid found himself deep in study, comparing the teachings of Islam and Christianity. His initial intent was to defend his faith, yet the more he learned, the more he was drawn to Jesus. Reflecting on these moments, Rachid stated, "I think I'm a Christian." His conviction grew stronger, leading to his conversion in 1990.
God Provides During Family Rejection
This new path was not without cost. When his family discovered his faith, Rachid faced rejection. Forced to leave home, he found himself homeless at just 16. Yet, in his time of need, God provided. A missionary offered him shelter, a testament to the divine intervention Rachid so deeply felt. "God help me, I can't do it," he once prayed, and help arrived.
Ministry and Advocacy for Christ
In search of safety, Rachid eventually fled to Cyprus. There, he continued to grow in his faith, contributing to the translation of the Bible into the Moroccan dialect and supporting the underground church. Since 2006, Rachid has been a voice for Christianity through television programs like "Unveiling the Mask" and "Daring Questions," where he openly shares the truth of Jesus.
Today, Rachid is not just a Christian but an advocate for religious freedom. He boldly declares, "My name is Rachid, I am a Moroccan Christian," while also recognizing the cultural roots that shaped him: "I am Moroccan before being Christian." Through his ministry, Rachid continues to testify of Jesus' transformative power, giving Him all the glory for the journey that began with a simple radio broadcast.
