Christine Caine, a prominent activist, speaker, and author, is known worldwide for her relentless fight against human trafficking and her efforts to empower women. Her journey from a childhood marked by abuse and abandonment to a life of purpose and impact is a testament to the transformative power of faith. Born in Sydney, Australia, in 1966 to Greek immigrant parents, Christine faced racial and gender marginalization. She endured over a decade of sexual abuse, which filled her with shame and a sense of unworthiness. At 33, she discovered she was adopted, a revelation that initially reinforced her feelings of being unwanted.
Overcoming Sexual Abuse Through Faith
However, her life took a significant turn in January 1989 when Christine attended Hillsong Church and committed her life to Christ. She began to replace the lies she had believed with the truth of God's word. Christine recalls feeling the Holy Spirit guide her to Isaiah 49:1, which assured her that she was called by God before she was born. This marked the beginning of her healing and transformation as she embraced her identity in Christ.
Divine Calling Against Human Trafficking
In 2007, a moment in Thessaloniki, Greece, changed the course of her life. She saw posters of missing girls, victims of human trafficking, which stirred a divine calling within her to take action. In 2008, Christine and her husband, Nick, founded The A21 Campaign, aiming to abolish injustice in the 21st century. The organization has since grown globally, rescuing victims and raising awareness about human trafficking. In 2015, Christine also established Propel Women, a movement to activate and equip women for leadership.
From Shame to Purpose
Christine's story is a powerful example of God's redemptive work. She overcame a past of pain and transformed it into a mission of justice and empowerment.
