Life Transformed from Drinking Smoking
In the heart of Harare, Zimbabwe, a young man named Andrew Wutawunashe experienced a profound transformation that would alter the course of his life. On June 6, 1974, Andrew's life of despair and sinfulness was turned around when he embraced the simple yet powerful gospel message. As he recounted, "Jesus took me out of a very miserable and sinful life, changed me, and gave me purpose and direction." This pivotal moment came when he heard that Jesus died and rose again for him, promising eternal life and a new identity as a child of God.
Breaking Free from Miserable Lifestyle
Before his conversion, Andrew was entrenched in a lifestyle he described as "miserable," despite being raised in the Dutch Reformed Church and pursuing higher education. The habits of drinking and smoking had taken root in his life. However, the encounter with Jesus brought a dramatic shift. Andrew found new purpose, leaving behind his academic pursuits to answer a divine call to ministry.
Founding Family of God Church
In 1980, Andrew founded the Family of God Church in Harare. The initial meeting, attended by only 30 people, marked the beginning of a ministry that would expand across continents. By the mid-1980s, Andrew and his growing church were holding meetings in countries such as Zambia, Kenya, and even as far as Russia and the USA. Under his leadership, the church acquired significant properties, including the renowned Leopard Rock Hotel, which was later sold to fund further expansions.
God Gave Purpose and Direction
Andrew often reflected on a message he felt God shared with him: "Make June the month of Salvation." He took this to heart, using it as a cornerstone for his ministry's focus on salvation and transformation. His journey from a life without direction to one filled with purpose and influence serves as a testament to the power of faith in Jesus.
Through his testimony and ministry, Andrew Wutawunashe's life continues to inspire countless individuals, pointing them toward the transformative love of Jesus.
