A Scientific Mind Seeks Answers
A physician attended one of John Wimber's conferences out of curiosity - or perhaps to debunk what he assumed was emotional manipulation. As a medical doctor trained in scientific methodology, he was skeptical of healing claims.
During a ministry time, he watched as people reported being healed of various conditions. He remained unconvinced - these could be psychosomatic, he thought.
Watching a Spine Straighten
Then a young girl was brought forward with a severely twisted spine (scoliosis), visible through her thin shirt.
The ministry team prayed for her. As they prayed, the doctor watched in disbelief as the girl's spine visibly straightened. He could see it happening in real time - vertebrae shifting, the curvature correcting. It took about two minutes.
Medical Confirmation
He pushed through the crowd to examine her. The spine that had been severely curved was now straight. He asked permission to touch her back, confirming what his eyes had seen. Medical science couldn't explain what had just happened.
The doctor became a believer in divine healing that day - not through argument, but through observation. He later said, "I saw what I saw. I can't explain it medically. But I saw it."
